Rod Serling
Growing up in the 50s & 60s you were exposed to the incredible writing of Rod Serling on a weekly basis, not only
the immortal Twilight Zone series, but many other works that
ranged from searing personal dramas to social justice works that were intended to create controversy and conversation.
I personally found his work inspiring and have written many
short film and anthology scripts always seeking to approach his intensity and quality. No matter the genre, the script has to be about something, something important that needs to be
said, even in guise of fantasy, science fiction, or horror.

Read Script for "Fast Forward"
While in college at Oswego State, I designed and created several film festivals including comedy, science fiction, and horror/fantasy.
I wanted Rod Serling to attend as a quest speaker
and wrote a letter to see if he was interested.
Mr. Serling had a personal connection to Central New York and had a house on Cayuga Lake even naming his production company Cayuga Productions, so I had hopes!
His letter arrived and there were even more
hopes. Then, when I called him, things started
looking very promising. We spoke for quite awhile about different topics including the festival. Mr. Serling was a very pleasant and down-to-earth person who genuinely hoped his schedule would allow him to attend. Alas, it did not as he was writing and producing the series Night Gallery at the time.
Another giant of the industry that was also a really great human being.
Tragically, he would be gone just three years after writing this letter but his legacy lives on.
P.S. - The phone number & address are both no longer valid.
